Putting together a season is a puzzle — hours of discussions, plans, and pivots. Sometimes, what seems impossible becomes possible. That’s exactly what happened with EUREKA DAY. When we first heard murmurings from supporters saying how perfect this play would be for us, we were intrigued. I read it, loved it, and had no idea how we could ever get the rights. But through a magic course of events, we did.

When I sat down to write this letter, I’ll be honest — I found it difficult. Not because I don’t love this play (I do). Not because I’m not surrounded by a talented and amazing team (I am). But because it’s hard to put into words what this play means in this particular moment. We joke that Jonathan Spector was a prophet, but it’s hard to see this play and not wonder how he possibly started writing this almost 10 years ago when it could be dropped into the news headlines today.

We are living in a unique time. Truth feels relative, science is in question, relationships hang on the verge of cancel culture. All the while we’re all just screaming at each other to be seen and noticed and cared for. Jonathan doesn’t answer all the questions in EUREKA DAY, nor does he tell us what to believe. Instead, he pulls back the curtain a little, helping us see people and not headlines. He leaves it to us to ponder and struggle together. I’ve found bits of myself in every character, good and bad. I hope I come away from this more open and understanding. I hope you do, too.

Thank you for being with us as we start our 15th Season. As always, we’ll do our very best to bring you extraordinary performances, up close.
